The Franklin County School District is announcing an opening for the following positions

 

Job Opening:

The Franklin County School District Transportation Department has a job opening for:

Mechanic

Pay: $40,000 - $50,000

Job Type: Full Time

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday (Based on FCSD School Calendar)

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Twenty-one years of age
  • Valid driver's license; having a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred
  • Possess a valid Class A or B CDL or permit. Qualified candidates will possess Passenger and School Bus Endorsements as well
  • Must be able to pass pre-job requirements including pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Three years of automotive or diesel repair experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • ASE certified or able to obtain
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; good verbal and written communication skills

    Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • Perform major and minor gas and diesel engine repairs on buses and other fleet vehicles as it pertains to the electrical, air conditioner, engine, drive train, brakes, tires, transmission, fuel system, seats, and body
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance done on all vehicles
  • Turn in all monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports to the transportation director
  • Perform any tasks assigned by the transportation director to aid in the overall department performance
  • Be on call in the event of a bus breakdown before or after the school day
  • Ensure the shop is clean, neat, organized, and safe
  • Keep facility grounds cut and clean
  • Always focus on safety
